Sony Xperia 10 III Design Revealed

Reportedly Sony is gearing up to release the Sony Xperia 10 III mid-range smartphone in the coming weeks. Now, some images of the device have been leaked, showing Xperia 10 III in its full glory.

Popular leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer aka @OnLeaks, via Voice, has shared a few renders of the upcoming Sony Xperia 10 III. First impressions reveal Sony is playing it safe and sticking to its good-ol’ Xperia 10 II-like design.

Although there is nothing to hate about the Xperia 10 II design, which the Xperia 10 III, at least on the renders, seems to be continuing with. We would have liked Sony to take some chances and bring some fresh elements.

The leaked renders show straight edges, pronounced bezels, 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio, and a rounded frame. Moreover, there is the familiar triple-camera setup at the rear.

Hemmerstoffer also shared some key details about the upcoming Xperia 10 III. Apparently, the device will measure 154.4 x 68.4 x 8.3 mm, i.e. 9.1mm without the camera module.

The size of the display is measured at 6.1-inches. Additionally, the top bezel houses the 8MP selfie camera and the front-facing speakers. Down at the bottom, there is the 3.5mm audio jack and the second speaker.

Sony Xperia 10 III rear-camera module may come with a 12MP primary sensor
As far as the rear camera specification is concerned, the device will come with a 12MP primary lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto camera lens housed in the vertical camera module.

Besides, the fingerprint sensor is also integrated into the power button of the phone, just like its predecessors. Nothing fancy like under-display technology going here.

We may also see Sony sticking with the high refresh rate on the display, just like the Xperia 5 II. There is no information on which chipset will power the Sony Xperia 10 III.

Being a mid-ranger and coming out in 2021, we expect Sony to bump the internals and include a 5G chipset like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690. Because the Snapdragon 690 5G SoC will be a popular choice for several other mid-range Android devices this year.

Looking back at the previous year’s timeline, Sony could launch the Xperia 10 III sometime in the next month. We also speculate Sony to release it alongside its 2021 flagship, the Xperia 1 III.

However, we do not have much info about the latter, and the information about the Xperia 10 III should also be taken with a pinch of salt.

Sony clearly does not want to take chances by including some flashy elements on their devices.

Sticking back to the basics is a safe play, but today’s modern smartphone user expects some innovative features on their smartphones. So, Sony may soon need to upgrade its design language.
